Dauson Completes Acquisition of Mekatek
Dauson Environmental Group has completed the acquisition of Mekatek Limited, securing the future of the specialist waste treatment facility at Amex Park, Carmarthen.
Completed on 1 September 2026, the acquisition represents a significant investment in Wales’ waste treatment infrastructure and will enable Dauson to expand the specialist services it provides to agricultural, commercial and industrial customers across Wales.
Mekatek’s Amex Park facility provides specialist treatment for wet and aqueous waste streams, supporting customers across a range of sectors, including agriculture. The facility plays an important role in the Welsh waste management network, providing treatment capacity for a range of specialist waste streams.
Dauson pursued the acquisition after becoming aware that the future of the facility was uncertain. Recognising the importance of its services to customers and the wider Welsh economy, Dauson moved to secure the site, protecting its specialist treatment capacity, employment and role within the wider waste management supply chain.
The acquisition directly safeguards over 25 jobs, while also supporting the wider network of businesses that depend on Mekatek’s operations, including transport providers, testing services and other specialist suppliers.
Following a detailed due diligence process, Dauson will now progress a programme of investment and improvement at the site. This will focus on ensuring the facility is sustainable, fit for purpose and equipped to meet the needs of its customers over the long term.
The Group will also explore opportunities to further develop the services available from Amex Park, building on Dauson’s wider experience across waste treatment, recycling, resource recovery and environmental services.
The acquisition strengthens Dauson Environmental Group’s presence in West Wales and forms part of its wider strategy of investing in infrastructure that supports a resilient, sustainable and locally focused waste management sector.
The investment will help ensure that essential specialist waste treatment services remain available within Wales, supporting businesses across the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors while protecting local employment and strengthening the wider supply chain.

Joint Venture announced with DP CleanTech Group
Company DP SWIPCo UK Ltd to Address the UK Waste Market
Waste-to-energy technology specialist DP CleanTech Group has partnered with waste operators Dauson Environmental Group and Brooke Energy Group to form DP SWIPCo UK Ltd. The new company has been established to develop solutions that specifically address the mounting business pressures faced by small and medium-sized waste operators in the UK.
UK waste policy is moving away from landfill and toward a circular model: reusing materials, recovering resources, and treating residual waste as a source of energy rather than simply a disposal problem. That shift is being driven through ever-expanding regulatory levers - shrinking landfill capacity, tightening environmental compliance requirements, stricter sorting standards, and forthcoming waste tracking and emissions frameworks - all adding further cost and complexity for the industry.
For small and medium waste businesses, meeting these requirements while covering rising operating costs has become a practical and financial challenge. Investing in reliable infrastructure has typically been complex, increasingly costly, and simply unsustainable.
A Shared Approach to Delivering SWIPs
DP SWIPCo Ltd was created to address this conundrum. Bringing together the deep technical expertise of DP CleanTech and the first-hand experience of established waste operators, together the joint venture has spent much are developing a new approach to the design, delivery and operation of smaller-scale waste-to-energy facilities, with a focus on making them commercially viable, reliable and fit for the needs of the UK market.
As a joint venture, the partners have worked closely together through extensive discussions around the design and functionality of the plants. By making decisions collectively across the complete solution - from design and technology through to construction, operation and feedstock - the partners aim to develop a standardised, repeatable model that can be efficiently deployed across multiple sites.
The partnership has already moved into delivery, with contracts in place for the first two plants, alongside plans to develop further plants across the UK over the coming few years.
Commenting on the new company, DP CleanTech Group CEO Simon Parker said

Dauson already has plans to implement the first the first of these SWIP plants at its own facility in Cardiff and the joint venture provides an opportunity to accelerate these plans across further sites within the group over the coming years.
Alongside this joint venture, Dauson Environmental Group is also investing in advanced material sorting and recovery infrastructure within its existing operations. This investment aligns closely with the development of DPSWIPCo’s technology, creating an integrated approach in which AI-enabled sorting can identify and recover recyclable materials before residual waste is processed for energy recovery.
Through these technologies, a key ambition for Dauson is to create a consistent, high-quality fuel from residual waste that is free from fossil fuel derived materials, maximising the recovery of valuable materials while reducing reliance on fossil carbon and landfill and supporting a more sustainable, circular approach to energy recovery.
